CT12 · Dumpton
The residential area between Ramsgate and Broadstairs, mostly 1930s and post-war semi-detached housing on well-shaped plots. Sits inland enough to be reasonably sheltered, but close enough to Broadstairs that some salt air still gets in. Standard rear-boundary work with a nod to the coast on hardware.
Dumpton is one of the easier Ramsgate patches for straightforward fencing. Plots are regular, access is usually good (front driveway or side passage), and the mid-C20th house design tends to have exactly the fence you'd expect - a 6ft closeboard or panel rear boundary reaching end-of-life at about the 15 to 20 year mark. That's the steady beat of the Dumpton workload.
Because Dumpton sits close to the Broadstairs edge, salt air is present but not intense. We still spec hot-dip galv hardware on anything with moving parts (gates, latches) because it's cheap insurance and the price difference is small. On the fence itself, tanalised softwood and concrete posts are the workhorse spec.
