CT11 · Royal Harbour
The working harbour edge and the immediate streets around it. Ramsgate holds the UK's only royal-designated harbour (George IV, 1821), and the streets that ring it are a mix of harbour cottages, Regency terraces on the East and West Cliffs above, and the sheltered harbour-bowl gardens set back from the sea.
The harbour bowl itself is sheltered by the cliffs - the sea breeze that hammers the West Cliff Promenade is a manageable draft down at Military Road and the streets running back from the harbour front. That changes the fence spec: we can drop back to two-rail closeboard or standard panel fencing on most rear boundaries here, and the concrete-post upgrade that's mandatory on the clifftop is optional (though still sensible) down at harbour level.
Front-boundary work near the harbour sits inside a conservation area administered by Thanet District Council. Above 1m on any front-facing boundary needs an application. Below 1m - which covers most traditional picket work - is permitted development. We check the LPA map at quote stage.
