CT11 · St Lawrence
The older village core west of the town centre, with St Lawrence-in-Thanet parish church at its heart. Cottages, converted farm buildings and older terraces on the streets around the church, mid-C20th infill further out. A gentler streetscape that suits painted picket and traditional timber fencing.
The St Lawrence village core has a distinct character - older stock than the seafront, generally lower boundaries, and a lot of painted picket and hedge boundaries as historic form. On front-garden work here we default to painted timber picket to match the streetscape, and we'll always mention hedge-and-fence combinations where the client has an existing hedge to preserve.
Rear gardens in the St Lawrence area vary widely - some of the older cottage plots are compact and awkward-access, others (particularly on the streets running north-west out of the village) have proper generous back gardens. Access can be tight on the older streets and we sometimes have to price for materials being carried through the house or over adjacent boundaries; we'll flag any of that at the site visit.
